Coming to you straight from Austin, TX, this is Emma's Gluten-Free Sweets, and I'm Emma! I've had allergies to wheat and peanuts since 2012, but that hasn't stopped my sweet tooth! Loving all things sweet with those allergies can be hard, but I'm finding fun ways to recreate beloved classics and invent new cakes and confections! Nurturing both body and sweettooth is my aim, and I'm so excited to share with you!
Baking has been a part of my life since I can remember. I grew up with a family that baked all the time - holidays, parties, weekends, weekdays.... I really caught the baking bug when I learned about my allergy and realized that I couldn’t have my favorite sweets anymore. Baking brings me joy in so many ways. Eating the finished product is pretty great. But making sweets is a very special thing. It’s an art and a science. I love that I am able to be a perfectionist and focus on the details, exact measurements, and decorations that make baked goods so wonderful. Baking continually teaches me that I am human, in that it is never actually perfect. I can plan and try my hardest, but something always throws me for a loop, forcing me to adapt. I’ll begrudgingly admit that it’s good practice for life. I thought I would share some of those experiences (and yummy recipes!) with you here. Creating this blog has also shown me how much joy comes from sharing my skills, stories, and sweets. And that it’s not the perfection, but the joy that we all share, that makes this really great.
